Pearl

Pearls are calcium carbonate gemstone mineral deposits that form naturally in sperical shapes inside mollusks. Thus Pearls are considered organic gemstones and their value is mainly determined from luster; other factors such as shape and surface quality also factor. This gemstone is one of the most ancient, with recorded references going back 5000 years or more. The gemstone is widely recognized as the June birthstone and often associated with bridal events. Although known as white jewels, some of the most alluring varities occur in rose and deep pink colors. One of the most striking characteristics of Pearls is their lack of cleavage making them resistant to breakage.
